Eva’s first haircut

September 14th, 2012

I’m a little behind. Eva’s first haircut was actually August 18, but better late than never, is what I say.

Anyway, she is about 2 1/2 and had never had her hair cut. Ella needed a haircut and so did I so we decided we would all make an appointment for the same day.

Are we dorks? Look at us all watching like it’s the most exciting event of the year.

OK, she doesn’t appear completely thrilled, but I didn’t really think she was feeling traumatized or anything, so I ran out to my car to grab my water bottle and came back in to find her sobbing in her seat. Poor girl. I guess haircuts are kinda scary. She sat on my lap the rest of the time.

A little trimmed up and feeling good. We survived. Warning to Eva: Hair stylists don’t usually know what to do with our curly hair. Most of the time, you will need to go home and fix it yourself afterward.

Family photos

September 13th, 2012

I’ve been meaning to post these family photos from Ella’s first day of school (preschool included) from the last three years … but it turns out I’m just as busy with one kid in school as I was before. Seriously, how does that work?

Anyway, 2010:

School is cool

August 31st, 2012

We are really liking school. Don’t get me wrong. I miss our little girl. I can hardly wait to walk down to the bus stop and get her. Eva asks several times a day where she is at and even said once, “I wish Ella was here now.”

However, we are having fun too! This was really my first week experiencing it because last week I worked 4 days (which just happens every other month). So, Miss Eva and I attended a meet the teacher event (she’s going to attend once-a-week daycare starting next week.) We went to the library storytime — she danced to the very same song Ella did a couple of years ago. It made me simultaneously so happy and sad all at once. We went to the craft store and bought an E that we will paint for her room. Then Wednesday we did a lot of playing, reading and laundry. Spent all day at home.We also squeezed in a gymnastics class and grocery shopping this week.

Whew. Can’t believe the week is over already! I think school is making time fly too …

Photo catch-up post

June 1st, 2012

I just haven’t felt like blogging. But looking back at photos we have had some really nice moments already this summer …

My favorite people, in their cute hats. My parents were watching Grant and Gabi this day and called to see if we wanted to meet them at Crazy Pinz. We couldn’t pass that up.

Pizza night a.k.a. mom doesn’t have to cook night! We had a pretty great arugula, prosciutto and garlic pizza too.

Preschool graduation. The best thing about kid programs like these is how they are so excited when they find you  in the audience.

Me and my girls. And some donuts.

A good night. Graduation was earlier in the day, then Steve and I both worked. We all met at Timmy’s restaurant then went home and watched the girls play in the yard forever.

Water balloons! This is a new one for us. Ella couldn’t get enough of these.

That awesome part of the Memorial Party when everything has settled down and a few of us are relaxing at the campfire. I want more of these nights.
