Yep, that about sums it up.

And there’s a tooth

I swear since Eva hit six months she’s been on the fast track with milestones. She started eating solids then, started sleeping through the night, then at seven months started crawling, and right away started pulling herself to a stand, and now … there’s finally a tooth poking through! Yay! It will be great when both of them can eat regular food.

And Ella is growing in leaps and bounds too. I actually bought her pajamas in size 5 yesterday. Oh my goodness. And she insisted on pulling Eva in her wagon yesterday home from the park. It was kinda nice for me.

Curtains Part II

Along with the drapes in the living room, I also had some roman shades made for some of our downstairs windows. And I love them. They’re colorful and fun and have lots of personality. And they look great with the other curtains.

I never realized how relaxing it is to close up the windows and shut out the bright sun sometimes.

Plus having someone hang them for me was worth a million dollars alone.

The turtle and the rabbit

Ella asked me if she could borrow my camera yesterday and she came back with this picture:

It’s of a little plastic turtle and rabbit from her grandparents. I asked her “Did you put them up on the bench like that?” She said “Yeah. They’re not real. They can’t do it themselves.”

I guess she told me.

(I of course was wandering if her daddy had done it for her)

Trip to the zoo

Wow, being gone a few nights last week really made work at home pile up. Literally. Tons of laundry and putting stuff away and cleaning … Anyway, I felt so bad for being in complete work mode that I took the girls to the zoo for some fun.

And they were so good. Ella was so happy to ride on the carousel and train. And Eva is just happy riding in anything taking in all the sights.

It’s been a big week for Eva. First she rode in the front of a grocery cart (without her car seat) and then she mastered crawling forward. She’s been pushing herself backward for some time now, but just in the past day has learned the forward moves, without falling. Looks like it’s time to babyproof again!

Loving every minute.

It’s still morning and so far today:

Eva got up at 5 a.m. for a feeding. I don’t know why. Growth spurt? Or maybe she needs to eat more at night.
I traded my workout for sleep and feel so slow and lethargic! I thought it would be better for me to get more sleep. But now I totally regret it.
Ella broke a cute little hand-painted vase I got on my honeymoon in Mexico.
And I finally, finally got the girls in the car today and Ella had to potty – and I mean one of her 20-minute sessions.

CSA

I’ve talked a while to friends about wanting to try out a program called CSA – community supported agriculture – and I finally have done it. Basically it’s like a co-op where you pay a price upfront and get a shipment of food once a week. In this case, it’s locally-grown, organic produce.

And so far, it’s been very fun.

First of all we got the small allotment which is enough for two adults and it’s $24 per week. I think this is very good – look at organic prices at the store – it’s easy to spend that much.

And so far we’ve already tried some new dishes and have cooked some veggies I never buy – like beets.

A few dishes we’ve had lately:

Roasted veggies – sliced up zucchini, squash and onions drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper and baked in the oven. Yum.

Chicken stir-fry with julienned zucchini and squash. (Not only do we have zucchini and squash through the CSA but Steve has grown some good ones in his garden)

Cucumber, tomato salad – chopped up with green onions, olive oil, salt and pepper.

Roasted beets. (wrapped in tin foil sprinkled with salt and pepper and baked – do you see a trend here?)

Sauteed zucchini and squash over pasta with chicken strips.

And I can’t wait to try some zucchini fritters that are in the Food Network magazine this month!

Now, does anyone know what you do with a leek?
