Baby girl – 31 weeks

October 28th, 2009

I feel a little guilty for not writing about my pregnancy more, when I’m sure Ella got a little more attention at this stage. In a way, I think she will always be slighted a little because she didn’t get to be the only child for a few years like Ella. But, on the other hand, she will have a really fun big sister. And a mom and dad who aren’t quite so nervous about everything. And she will get a lot of attention and time, because I will be working less this time around then I did during Ella’s first two years. And Ella may even go to preschool next fall, which would give this baby girl and I some one-on-one time.

Anyway, had a 31-week checkup yesterday. Baby is measuring perfectly. And the heartbeat is 145. And I scheduled my next two appointments – I’ll be going every two weeks from here on out.

My weight gain did in fact slow down. I only gained two pounds since my last appointment a month ago. I haven’t been ravenous like I was in the beginning. OK, maybe it’s not that, maybe it’s the fact that now when I eat to much I feel like I may literally explode. I feel like this must be what it’s like to have your stomach stapled. Just not enough room in there.

In a way, I feel like this pregnancy has been the longest 8 months of my life, but in a way, it’s flown by. I think it was mainly those beginning months of worry and nautiousness that made it feel so long. Now it’s uncomfortable, but I feel her move so much and she’s really growing now … so it’s reassuring.

I’m getting more excited the closer it gets. I’ve nearly got all my Christmas shopping done and our house is under construction this week to prepare for another baby (another post on that later).

Speaking of which, my back can only take so much at this laptop at my kitchen counter – new desk is in construction zone.
