Tired and grumpy

September 10th, 2009

Today was a little miserable for me I have to admit. I was up again with allergies/cold. We have this terrible cold that we keep passing around at my house. And I believe it’s coupled with my allergies. And I may even have a sinus infection at this point. Anyway, you get the idea. Congestion, stuffy nose, and a sore throat now because I can’t ever breathe through my nose.

So, I basically started my day at 3 a.m.

By 9 a.m. I was ready to get out of the house so I loaded up Ella and hit the road. About 5 miles down the road, she took a drink out of her sippy cup, the lid came off and orange juice dumped all over her. And of course I could not find the spare outfit I’ve been obsessing about keeping in the car. So, it was back to the house to get cleaned up and changed.

Immediately upon getting back in the car I lifted up my bag and spotted that spare outfit I couldn’t find.

We picked up a few things at Target then headed to the mall. Ella loves to ride the carousel and I figured we’d grab a quick lunch. It went OK, but it was a lot of work to convince Ella to sit and eat, to ride in her stroller at all, to listen … And I was just wasted tired by this point.

And wouldn’t you know I’d run into someone I know? And of course she looked all cute. Her two kids were dressed very cute as was she. And I couldn’t help but think about how my outfit was terrible and I am getting so fat and my hair looked awful. And I’m sure I had some serious eye bags at this point.

Oh well. We went home and took a nap. And it did make me feel better. Sometimes sleep will change your whole outlook on life. Except I still look like crap.

    To cheer you:

If you ever crawl inside an old hollow log and go to sleep, and while
you’re in there some guys come and seal up both ends and then put it on a truck and take it to another city, boy, I don’t know what to tell you.

If you go to a costume party at your boss’s house, wouldn’t you think a good costume would be to dress up like the boss’s wife? Trust me,it’s not.

Most of the time it was probably real bad being stuck down in a dungeon. But some days, when there was a bad storm outside, you’d look out your little window and think, “Boy, I’m glad I’m not out in that.”

For mad scientists who keep brains in jars, here’s a tip: why not add a slice of lemon to each jar, for freshness?

One more thing…after finding a sippy cup of spoiled milk under a seat in my car and after the 383rd drink spilled in our car I made a new rule. Only water for the kids in the car. I’m starting to really get rules now that I’m a parent. That spoiled milk smell, WOW! I really thought it would effect my trade-in value of my car, but over time it did go away, or I got used to it. And the spare outfit, is a must. Even when they get to be almost 5. Stuff happens!!! And also I find if you go anywhere in the late afternoon, you may as well bring jammers and blankeys if you don’t wan’t to risk total anarchy.

Erin, you poor thing. What a bad day. Why is it we always run into people we know when we look our absolute worst. It really does happen to everyone if that makes you feel any better.
