Halloween 2009: What a pumpkin
I’ve had technical difficulties lately so I’m getting a few short posts up that I’ve been wanting to get up for a while now … so if you’re wandering why I’m just now posting Halloween photos that’s why. My IT man has got my site going again though. Thanks honey!

I recently had Ella’s hair cut. Only for the third time in her life. I don’t know why, but I get nervous everytime. Like she’s too cute, I don’t want to get rid of any part of her. But, I love the new hairdo. The short cut is really fitting on her.
She sits really still for haircuts too. I think she likes it. Which makes me wonder, is she too young for us to get pedicures together?

Ella is around 2 1/2 right now and she’s been talking for quite a while now. She wakes up talking, and doesn’t really stop until she goes to bed. But now she really seems to be putting things together and thinking about things – and it’s pretty funny. So because I have no memory and will soon forget all these funny things she’s said lately, and hopefully the relatives will enjoy … here are a few snippets straight from Ella’s mouth:
- (Walking into room holding a leaf) “Look mommy I found a feather from the fall.”
- (On a drive in the morning, pointing to the moon) “The moon is following us and it’s not even in a car!”
- When Ella wanted a snack from me the other day, I asked her to say the magic word. She responded “Abra cadabra?”
- (Holding on to stairway rail) “Look daddy. I can hold the branch, like a big girl”
- (In conversation with 5-year-old neighbor girl) Ella holds up her shirts and says “This is my belly. I like to be naked baby.” (This is what we call her when she’s constantly taking off her clothes at home.) She added this to the conversation “I like to stick my face in my drink and blow bubbles.” The other girl asked “Doesn’t your nose get in it?” Ella replied, “yeah, sometimes.” Good conversation!
- (Speaking with her grandpa on the phone) “I’m having lunch with your friend Grandma!”
- (I normally call Ella pumpkin, but around Halloween time, when her costume was actually a pumpkin, I would get this response) “I’m not a pumpkin today. I’m a pumpkin for Halloween. Today I’m Ella Doucette.”
Little girl things
Today I realized I had some things in my closet that I don’t wear – but I knew someone who would really like them … so Ella played a little bit of dressup today. She loves her new stuff. Scarves, big jewelry, a hat and few purses. She even went to sleep clutching some eye shadow and a makeup brush.
