Under construction

November 2nd, 2009

We finally have gotten a big project underway at my house. We’ve had our open loft turned into a wall.

Let me explain a little how our house is set up. Steve’s office is in the upstairs loft, which overlooks the living room. Our living room/dining room/kitchen is all very open downstairs. Therefore what Ella and I do downstairs (T.V., talking, begging for candy) can be heard from Steve’s office. What Steve does upstairs in his office (loud conference calls, T.V.) can be heard downstairs. It doesn’t work. Not to mention that we will have one more loud little girl begging for candy before we know it.

So the last week was a little unusual. We had men here doing construction most days – so we all took off during the day and then came home at night – in which I would furiously try to get some cleaning, laundry and other work done. I’m so glad to be back to “normal” this week. And while I’m writing this blog at my desk in the living room I’m listening to the television. Because I can! Normally I would not turn the tv on downstairs during the day, so I wouldn’t interrupt Steve. So, it’s nice.

And Ella and I just decided to spend the whole day at home – which we don’t do often. Partly because we don’t want to be too loud. So it’s good to have more freedom. And she’s even taking a nap now. Aaah … back to normal.

Our house under construction last week.

Needs painted still. But it’s a wall now!
