Let’s talk dresses

March 12th, 2010

I love that I have two girls to buy dresses for now. And with Eva’s baptism and Easter coming up, it’s time to get some new ones.

Except the problem is, I’m not really a fan of the traditional, pastel, poofy-style Easter dress. Please don’t take offense if you are. I’ve just never been a super girly-girl and I don’t think Ella is either. That being said, I do love dresses, I just would prefer something more modern I guess.

This is what Ella wore last Easter and I LOVED it. She wore it for pictures too and she always asked to wear it. And she even brought it up just the other day. So here it is:

Anyway, I’ll share a few dresses I found that I was considering:

These are cute because one is for an infant and one is for a little girl but they are slightly different. However, my SIL got a similar one for her little girl, but in purple and green – it is really cute!

The next ones also come in baby and girl sizes, but slightly different styles. They are kinda pastely though, but pretty. And they are more expensive. Probably more expensive than I would like them to be. Definitely more than my husband would probably like them to be.

The next ones are cute, but again kinda pricey. I do like the brown though.

And then just today, I was at Wal-mart and noticed some dresses I really liked. And of course they were inexpensive so I bought two and am thinking they may be perfect for Ella – for the baptism and then for Easter. I couldn’t find an image of one of the them, but here is one that may work for Easter. I love the belt … I guess I’ll see what Ella thinks tonight!

Yay sunshine

March 11th, 2010

We had a nice visit with our friends who came over for a play date today. It sure made the day go fast. Then after they left it was no longer gray and rainy and it was sunny and about 60 degrees. So we walked to the park, where Ella pretended that leaves were invitations to parties and she taught a much younger girl (a one-year-old) how to master the stairs and swing. Eva took her first walk in the sunshine and slept while I held her.

We also snagged some pine combs while we were out. And Ella got lots of compliments on her red boots.

The day in photos

March 10th, 2010

My hubby wasn’t here today – away on business, so I’m sure he’d like to see what we did. So here’s a little snapshot.

Ella wanted to hold Eva this morning and was really sweet with her.

Then Ella wanted to shoot her own photos.

She insisted we make cookies this morning then hijacked the sprinkles.

Eva’s getting so cute and expressive. She was really awake a lot today.

We tried out the bumbo for Eva. She’s pretty good in it. And Ella got her haircut by the way!

Tried to get a group self portrait shot. Someday I’ll use a blowdryer and makeup again, I swear.

So cute in her Hello Kitty knee pads and helmet.

And there are those delicious cookies we made. Yum!

How am I supposed to lose weight when Ella wants to make cookies everyday?

March 9th, 2010

We had intentions of going to our favorite Tuesday storytime today until Ella refused to get dressed and kept insisting she wanted to make cookies instead. And then I wandered, does she like storytime as much as I do? And with that I decided we’d just stay home and make cookies.

So, we started a batch of oatmeal/peanut butter cookies until I realized I didn’t have enough peanut butter. So we put that project on hold until we could get some more at the store.

And now we’re back from the store, where Ella got her haircut, we got peanut butter, a helmet for her to ride on her scooter later, and some stuff for our lunch/playdate tomorrow.

But now it’s “quiet time” — which really means mommy needs a break time, and those peanut butter cookies will just have to wait. As will that laundry I washed earlier. And some cleaning that needs done. Sometimes I feel like I never can finish anything around here. And on that note …
