Ready for change

October 19th, 2009

It’s another Monday and the last two weeks I’ve put in some extra hours at work for various reasons, so I’m happy to be at home this week … until Thursday at least.

We were going to go to park today, and it would have been a nice day to, but Ella wasn’t interested for some reason. She did seem interested when I mentioned pumpkins and farmers market though … so we took a little trip to a nearby market. And I probably bought way too much produce considering Steve’s gone part of this week. I’m going to have to make an effort to cook a lot this week!

So, anyway we have a lot of stuff coming up around here that I’m looking forward to.

  1. A girls shopping trip, in which I hope to get a lot of Christmas shopping done and possibly sleep in – that probably won’t happen again for a long, long time, so I better enjoy it.
  2. We’re building a wall in our house. I may have mentioned this before, but maybe not. We have an extremely open house and with Steve working home full time in an upstairs loft, and me working only part-time and home with soon-to-be two children, it just doesn’t work. So, I’m really excited about the freedom this will give me. No more quiet times during conference calls! Or throughout the day for that matter. And no more loud tv coming from downstairs or upstairs!
  3. Along with the wall comes other good things … we hope to have some built in cabinets to store all Steve’s junk lovely collectibles. And we also hope to have a few extra cabinets in the hallway, which means more storage. I’m already having to buy vacuum bags to store linens, and with another child we are going to be hurting for storage.
  4. We’ll also be moving some things from the living room to the office. An aquarium and an overstuffed chair hopefully. This will mean I could get a little desk for the living room and instead of sitting at the kitchen counter with my laptop and papers I could have a permanent little home for my mac. That would be awesome. And I would also love some bookshelves for the living room …

Here’s a desk at Ikea that would be really cute if IKEA offered shipping! Or wasn’t 4 HOURS away.

And here’s a cute desk at Target I may just have to run out and get, because it’s only $55 this week … and you know I’m going to need a cute lamp, a cute chair and some cute office containers to go with it.

And now I hear someone yelling about pee on their dresser … so daydreaming is over.

28 weeks

October 12th, 2009

I’m just not photogenic. Not at all. Ask my husband. If you ever watch My Name is Earl, I’m a lot like Earl, who closes his eyes in every photo. Also, I’m in the “stretch pants” phase of my pregnancy. I’m out for comfort, not for looking good. That being said. Here’s a belly pic last week – this is at about 28 weeks along.

Little leopard

October 12th, 2009

So far, Ella has worn her leopard costume once in Ludington at her grandparents’ campground’s harvest festival, once at her other grandma’s work party, at her cousin Grant’s birthday party this weekend, and yesterday to Scott’s grocery store. She’s loving life as a leopard.

Maybe it won’t be a terrible day

October 9th, 2009

I feel like somebody flipped a switch and turned my easy, energetic second trimester self into a huge, achy, sickly pregnant lady. Seriously. Suddenly I feel nautious and so tired. It’s a lot like the first trimester. And to top it off my organs and bladder are feeling the pain of losing their needed space.

OK, I just had to complain a little. I know I’m lucky to even be having this baby but I just felt like I needed to vent for a minute.

So, I woke up this morning around 4:30, 5? I don’t know. But I’ve spent a lot of time since them in the bathroom. I’m really hoping it’s not the flu. And wouldn’t you know it’s on one of my busiest days at work?

This didn’t make me very optimistic about the day ahead, but I have to say, things are looking up. Here’s what’s aspired since:

1. Ella got up at 6:20 and has just been sweet and amusing. She begged me to let her watch Return of the Jedi and being exhausted I said “yes!”. Then I slept with one-eye open while she watched and asked me all about Ewoks and storm troopers and things I have no idea about.

2. I picked up some jeans at my new favorite seamstress who is less than 1/2 mile from my house and who is Greek and really sweet and charges reasonable prices and loves to chat with Ella and has a grandson the same age. The other seamstresses I’ve been to have either had extremely high prices or worked in a shop that reeked of body odor. So I’m pretty happy about this find.

3. I got a very good parking space at work. And it was raining.

4. The company owner was here when I arrived and told me what a good job I was doing and how much he appreciated it. That’s nice to hear.

5. I’m slowly starting to feel better. Not so nautious.

6. My jeans that I had to buy in a bigger size than usual are actually quite big on me. I think I could have bought a smaller size. Yay!

So that’s it. Small things, but quite a few. Maybe someone flipped that switch back already.
