Ella has been really funny lately. This morning I woke up to hearing her pull her diaper off. I told her that we would need to put another one on. And she said “No, I’ll just wear my butt today.”

Later on Ella did quite a number in her little potty. A number 2 that is. We were quite ecstatic when she showed it to us. And to make the moment even more humerous, Ella noted “It looks like a rainbow.”

Back to normal

July 12th, 2009

We’re back to normal life here after our camping trip (which I still will post about I promise). Friday night we had family over for pizza and playtime in yard, Saturday I took Ella to an outdoor festival with the cousins again, then we had a nice evening sitting outside watching Ella play in her pool. Today mostly involved playing, a trip to Target and going to see Ice Age 3. Nice, but Ella would not take a nap today and I have realized one thing. Ella needs to take naps. She’s crying right now because she can’t get ALL her little toys in her purse. GRUMPY.

She’s been funny today though. Earlier I asked if she wanted to have a grilled cheese for lunch and she said “Um, how about breadsticks??” Then she put her hands up and said “breadsticks are so yummy.”

Then I crawled in bed with her as she was “napping” and she looked at me and said “mommy, you having a baby?” It was very sweet.

We also snuck in a few visits to some cell phone stores before and after the movie- I’m dying to replace our cell phones. We both are using old, used models we bought off Ebay. I love the idea of having a keyboard and being able to look up directions and movietimes while we’re out. Now it’s just a matter of getting two indecisive people to choose a plan and phones.

Funny little girl

Ella’s developing quite a sense of humor. She loves making us laugh.

While camping she came up with a new word: “Scahba.” She repeated it often and we never could figure out what it meant. After Steve asked her for the millionth time what “Scahba” meant Ella said, “It means stop talking.” Ha!

Then last night after Daddy told Ella no more candy, because “actually, it is your bedtime,” Ella responded, saying “Actually, it is not my bedtime,” and then she cracked up. I was just impressed she used the word right.

Could it be a boy?

July 9th, 2009

After a day and night of laundry and putting away things from our trip I’m back to work and normal life. We had a fantastic time on our trip –  you’ll get a post soon, but right now I only have a minute.

I did want to mention I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday (I reached 15 weeks on Tuesday) and the baby’s heartbeat was 149. And to all those who subscribe to those myths about a lower heartbeat meaning a certain gender, yes, this could indicate the baby is a boy. But I’m reminding everyone that we all thought it was a boy last time. So, I really just feel like I have no clue this time. I did ask when we could get the ultrasound to find out and my doctor recommended that we wait until my 23 week appointment. Such a long time away! Oh well, like she says, we’ll really be able to tell then.

Also in babymaking news: Either they turned the thermostat up to 100 degrees at work or I’m starting to feel the pregnancy heatwave.
