An eyedoctor followup
I know you’re on the edge of your seat wondering about my glasses … ha ha … so I went back today with my cute, but broken pair of glasses and my recently-fashioned coke bottle goggles they gave me yesterday. And they said “Oh you had an anti-glare, and flat edges instead of a rolled edge and a thinner lens. Do you want those again? That will cost extra.” And I said “Yes, yes and yes! Where do I sign? I’ll give you anything you want!”
But secretly I was thinking “uh, this information would have have been useful YESTERDAY” (to quote a line from Wedding Singer. I mean, why didn’t they ask me if I wanted those services before. My vision is like 300/20 and I am a young woman – don’t they know I want to look good?
But really, they were so nice that I forgive them and all was well. I also picked out a new pair of frames. The ones I had were cute but I think the shape was also contributing to the whole coke bottle effect.
So, anyway, then I’m on my way home and my husband tells me that his HR just informed him that contrary to our previous insurance provider where every doctor was “in network”, our new insurance provider only covers some doctors. Again, information that would have been useful YESTERDAY.
And guess who’s “out of network?” My eye doctor. So i guess those contacts and glasses I just got are going to be more than I thought. Oh well, I’m over it. I’m even over the fact that my husband’s HR completly forgot to tell us that we had new insurance until February – therefore we technically didn’t have any insurance for two months. Do you see a pattern here? People are leaving out very IMPORTANT information.
OK, I’m done venting, the sun is shining today, and hopefully I’ll have new glasses that I like and it’s almost the weekend and it’s going to be nice. And I’m not going to think about “in network” providers and insurance coverage one bit.

You must have been so frustrated with all of this drama. If doctors and HMOs are involved things always get twice as complicated as they need to be. I hope the sun melted away your frustrations.
