Exercise
I have come to really like what I get out of exercise and can’t imagine not getting any. I think I would just lay on the couch all the time and eat ho-hos and feel like crap.
Anyway, my biggest struggle is finding the time to do it.
When I worked full-time it was easy to make it a part of my lunch time routine. Or if you don’t have kids, just go after work. But now I work part time so I’m either with my kids or have jam-packed days of work to get through.
Last year I was so good about getting up before the kids and getting it in. And now I think, “Who was that crazy person and how was I so disciplined?” Now it’s seems so dark and cold and lonely to leave my warm snuggly bed in the morning. I do remember feeling so great the whole day long just from a 30-minute workout though. Not sure how I find that motivation again.
So, I’m trying new things. I just bought a groupon for some zumba classes. I’m going to try out a Saturday morning class. This goes against everything I think Saturdays are for, but it seems to be the right fit right now. And I am consistently attending two other classes throughout the week, so I would at least have 3 workouts a week in. My goal though is to get up to the point where I exercise 5 days a week.
Anyway, how does the rest of the world fit it in? Am I missing a big, great secret to making the time?

Erin I find it so incredibly hard now that I work a more “normal” job schedule. (Not getting off at 3:05 anymore…). It’s hard. I’m having to force myself to be at the gym for class from 5:30-6:30 which means I have to eat dinner at like 7:30 and I go to bed around 9:30 or 10. It just feels like my whole day is gone then. Oh well, I guess that’s the way it has to be. Doing that 2 times per week and trying to sneak in a run or walk 1 or 2 other days to try to get 3 in a week. It’s tough. I cannot imagine how people with kids do this.
When you find out, let me know! Does “Just Dance” on the Wii count? I am shooting for 3 days a week myself. Luckily,I have a cute red-head I can go with to keep me motivated
Yes, it’s really hard. For me, the partial answer is walking. I walk to work and to the post office so at least 5 times a week I at least get in some brisk walks during the day. And then of course Terry and I try to walk at night. Some weeks we get no walks in and some weeks we go 2-3 times. But with kids it’s very, very hard. I used to walk with the kids when we could but that’s not “brisk!” The motivator to get to a gym or a class is that you feel so much better! But it’s hard!
