There really is a baby in there

Suddenly I really feel as if there is a baby in my belly. Or, uh, uterus I guess. But that doesn’t sound quite as sweet.

I think the baby just had a growth spurt. My belly is a little more pronounced, a little harder, and I really can feel that there is something in there. And I believe I’ve even felt fluttering lately.

All of this is awesome because until this point, most of the time I think, wait, am I really pregnant? My tummy’s a little bigger, but it really just looks like I’ve had too many steak burritos. I wonder if those tests could have been wrong. Maybe I had a faulty test. Maybe the doctor’s office got the blood tests mixed up. And maybe that little gestational sac in the ultrasound was really a tumor!

But my doctor seems to find some fast-beating heartbeat with her little doppler device every four weeks. And now that I’m starting to feel it and see it, I’m starting to really believe that I’m HAVING A BABY. Which means we are going to have TWO KIDS.

Thank goodness I have 23 more weeks to digest this information.
