Awesome and Awkward Friday
I hope that you don’t count on themes such as Random Thoughts Thursday and Awesome and Awkward Friday to stick around because I don’t have that kinda memory power each week.
But anyway, we’ll have fun with it for today.
Awesome for the week:
- Wedding weekend was last weekend! So much fun. Beautiful wedding. Kids danced their socks off. Food and appetizers were incredible.
- Chicago! We rode the ferris wheel and took a boat ride at Navy Pier. And ate numerous good meals, all with cousins, aunt and uncle and grandparents. (I highly recommend traveling with grandparents. Very helpful!)
- That Ella chose Legos over American Girl dolls at the Chicago mall. I don’t really care either way but Steve sure was over the moon that his little girl is a tomboy at heart.
Awkward:
- That I slammed my hand in the van door and my arm in a revolving door. I am so clumsy. It’s not funny anymore.
- That I forgot my curling iron and eyeliner and looked like a frizzy-haired ghost at the wedding. Then bought a new curling iron and realized way deep in the recess of my bag, that I had in fact brought my curling iron.
- That Eva bit her cousin and another kid yesterday at the babysitters. Three times.
Ok, that should do it for this week! Looking forward to an uneventful weekend. And hopefully no biting.

Ella is officially signed up for a fall activity. She will start doing tap and ballet the week after next.
She is thrilled to be doing ballet again and although she didn’t even know what tap was after watching a few utube videos, she has been doing some mean tap moves around the house.
We actually had to buy some shoes for each class and there will be a recital at the end. It’s a little more serious than the Parks and Rec class we took before. No offense to them, we love their toddler classes.
So, photos to come I’m sure. Now maybe Eva needs to be enrolled in swimming this winter since she’s fearless around water …

With school approaching and our zoo offering free admittance to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum with our membership, we decided to take a little day trip last week.
The normally 2-hour-trip took over three hours. Eva was so ready to be out of the car, so we headed right to the playscape floor so she could get out some energy.
Ella is really getting into photography. I wonder where she got that from.
Every little nook in the museum seems to have something interesting.
Ella learned a little about archaeology and even went digging at one new exhibit.
Ella loves, loves, loves carousels. Eva got a little scared though. We weren’t even on the animals that went up and down. I’m thinking the bench is more our speed.
I think Eva would like any career that involves ice cream.
The Barbie exhibit is still there for a few weeks so Ella got to try out some new fashion, while Eva danced nearby on a runway. Good day at the museum. Eva was asleep immediately after we left the parking garage.

I promised more photos, so here they are:
We stopped for a snack at the Moma (Museum of Modern Art) cafe. I had a root beer float. With homemade vanilla gelato and and all natural root beer. NY never lets me down.
John Lennon was shot at the door of this building, The Dakota, which overlooks Strawberry Fields. So sad. Yoko still has a place there.
So surreal to see this famous statue in real life.
Steve took a lot of pictures of me. I will not be showing you the one of me going to town on a Haagan Daas ice cream cone immediately after this boat cruise.
This is Schermerhorn Row. I presume it was named after my famous ancestors who loved to shop.
Goodbye NY! I will return to see you someday!
