College reunion

September 3rd, 2010

Wow, it’s been a blur of a week and part of that includes Ella’s first day of preschool – post coming as soon as I have time to upload photos!

Two college buddies flew here and one drove down for a few days of reconnecting. It was really nice. But weird too!

I hadn’t seen one of my friends for 10 years. But it wasn’t long before I remembered our whole group dynamic and what role we each took.

It was really different from our days at Ball State though. We were much tamer this week. We stayed up until midnight every night — that was pretty late for some of us. With my two kids and the child of one of the other girls it was kid-centric most of the time too. A trip to Chuckie Cheese,  playtime in the yard, a walk to the park … not exactly like when we used to hang out in college. (Understatement of the decade.) It all kept reminding me of that quote “You can’t go home again.”

But it was fun, and as different as we are from each other, I realized it’s our personalities that link us, not really our interests. So, hopefully we’ll always be able to share some laughs together …

Perhaps we shouldn’t have faced the bright glaring sun for our picture.

Craziness

August 24th, 2010

Number of days last week we did not have a working fridge: 4

Number of days hubby was out of town: 5

Number of extra days I had to work last week: 3

Number of times I have layed Eva down for her morning nap to no avail today: 5

Number of times Ella has asked me for a drink today: 545

Number of loads of laundry I’ve done today so far: 3, 3 more to go

Yep, that about sums it up.

Curtains Part II

August 13th, 2010

Along with the drapes in the living room, I also had some roman shades made for some of our downstairs windows. And I love them. They’re colorful and fun and have lots of personality. And they look great with the other curtains.

I never realized how relaxing it is to close up the windows and shut out the bright sun sometimes.

Plus having someone hang them for me was worth a million dollars alone.

Trip to the zoo

August 5th, 2010

Wow, being gone a few nights last week really made work at home pile up. Literally. Tons of laundry and putting stuff away and cleaning … Anyway, I felt so bad for being in complete work mode that I took the girls to the zoo for some fun.

And they were so good. Ella was so happy to ride on the carousel and train. And Eva is just happy riding in anything taking in all the sights.
