Sleepless in Huntertown
Well we had a nice weekend with the in-laws. Ella had a blast opening a million Christmas presents and they cooked and did dishes for us!
Sleeping is still a bit rough. The night started off good, I had nearly a 3-hour stretch of sleep, but then I didn’t get to sleep for hours. Seemed like every time I layed her down she cried or grunted like she has to poop or gas is irritating her. I’m wondering if having her sleep in the nursery would help me sleep more between feedings. I mean, do I need to be there to tend to her every grunt and moan? I’m hurting for some good sleep.
Anyway, I’ve also been doing some research for preschools for Ella. I can’t believe I’m already looking into preschool. Seems like she was just born. But she wouldn’t of course start to fall – you have to enroll pretty early at some places. I think she’ll love it though. I’m a little torn – she already goes to a sitter two days a week, so I kinda don’t want to give up time with her. But it would also be nice to have some one-on-one with Eva.
So, that’s about it. I also just ordered some erasable labels for food containers. Steve is going to think I’m ridiculous. But I think it would be nice to date leftovers then I know for sure if they’re still good. I know. I’m a dork.

It’s a really good thing babies are so cute and lovable, because mine gave me an exhausting night. Went to bed at 11, right after last feeding. Then up for feedings at 12:30, 2:30, 4:30, and then at 5:30 when she wouldn’t go back to sleep I escaped to Ella’s room and Steve gave Eva a bottle of formula that she sucked down. She had just finised nursing!
So, I am praying that she’s going through a growth spurt and we don’t get into the habit of waking up every 2 hours. Oy.

Last night I cleaned out my jewelry box to give to Ella. I knew she would love it. And she has been playing with it ever since. She sits there and neatly puts each bracelet into each cubby hole. I guess she has my organizing genes – although Steve calls it my “OCD.” Anyway, it’s a cute little girl thing to watch her play with the jewelry box.
But today a few screws fell out of it, and I put them aside to fix them – and told her not to touch them. And guess what, three of them are missing. Ughh.
All else is well. I made it through my first week with both kids. And I thought I was doing pretty well until Ella snapped a picture of me and showed it to me. Yikes! I look like a wreck. Oh well, the kids are fed and clean … that’s the important thing right?
The in-laws may come this weekend so I’m excited to talk to some adults soon and maybe get a rest!

Steve’s feeding Eva a bottle right now ( I just pumped and we’re trying to give her a few bottles a week so that she won’t decide she hates bottles like her sister!) and Ella is watching her new Sleeping Beauty movie, hence the 10 minutes I’m taking to get back to my neglected blog.
Anyway, it was a nice day. Steve actually took a few hours off and asked if we girls wanted to join him for errands. Errands! Out of the house?! Sounded awesome! I guess I’m getting a little bit of cabin fever.
So we stopped a few places and it went well. Two kids seems like just the right amount. One for each of us to handle.
I actually took them for the first time by myself on Monday and that went well too. But man, it is a challenge to carry everything: baby in carseat, wintercoats, diaper bag … I think they should seriously tell pregnant women to start lifting weights. There’s a lot of stuff to carry when you have children.
OK, well that was all the time I’m willing to give tonight to blogging. Ella needs to go to bed and I have a date planned with Steve and the TV. And of course a little hungry baby.
